We are looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) that will have a primary purpose of supporting and coaching an Agile Release Train (ART) by navigating and optimizing the successful delivery of software in a large, cross-functional environment. Your primary focus is as a servant leader facilitating program-level execution, removing impediments, identifying & mitigating risks and dependencies, and driving continuous improvement. The selected candidate will help establish and will elevate the delivery maturity of these CoEs and be responsible for managing all aspects of Program delivery including budget, schedule, scope, risks and issues.

What You’ll Do:

  • Managing and optimizing the flow of value through the Train
  • Responsible for all Release Train metric reporting
  • Facilitate planning and planning readiness
  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary
  • Track the execution of features and capabilities; Escalate and track impediments
  • Provide thought leadership and expertise across the team and with internal and external train partners in achieving their commitments through issue, risk and dependency management
  • Ensure that dependencies outside the Train are understood and proactively managed. Ensure that risks and issues between projects and with the rest of the organization are understood and managed against expectations
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
  • Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets. Encourage collaboration between teams
  • Help lead the team to identify and implement continuous process improvements. Identify and pursue opportunities to improve Train execution; recommend enhancements related to new and/or existing workflows
  • Identify and drive efficiencies and best practices to ensure sound economic decisions made across the Train’s budget and time allocations
  • Ensure communications, collaboration and coordination across teams, business partners, other areas of IT, and the Portfolio Manager
  • Ensure regular communications to and with project stakeholders to ensure the expected outcomes are understood and are positioned to deliver the expected benefits
  • Assist in the development of and aligning to the client’s PMO Agile methodology and standards


What You Bring:

  • Proven work experience as a Program/Project Manager (5+ years) and as a Release Train Engineer (1+ years)
  • Be an excellent team player
  • Experience facilitating Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or XP teams to deliver solutions
  • Experience with the implementation of large scale programs (including large complex projects / tracks)
  • Experience creating and managing project budget and financials
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with ability to present to executive management
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills
  • Experience with Systems Thinking
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity, set direction, and influence those not under direct line of management
