At SQA Group, a technology and advisory services firm, we work with some of the most forward-thinking leaders who are ready to reach their next mile of being truly data driven. Whether that means advancing fast with AI, unlocking the power of data science, or peering into the future via predictive analytics, they are eager to elevate the role that data plays within their business.

We’re looking for a client-facing Data Scientist and Solutions Engineer who has both hands-on practitioner experience, as well as team leadership expertise, in driving forth critical data initiatives for organizations. In this role, you will be an extension of our in-house Solutions team and support us on critical initiatives — from pre-sales calls to solutions scoping to client delivery. Having worked in services/consulting firms is a huge plus, as we are continually toggling between one client project to the next!

This role is ideal for someone who is a full-time Consultant and would like SQA Group to become one of your main anchor accounts. And/or is about to leave a full-time role and looking to start their next data adventure as this role has the ability to turn into full-time with us down the road.

What You’ll Do:

As a Data Scientist and Solutions Engineer, you’ll work in collaboration with our Data Practice team via a fixed monthly retainer. Core responsibilities include things like:

  • Join calls with our Sales/BD teams to help shepherd our sales journey — from conducting initial discovery to leading needs analysis to scoping engagements to proposing to our clients
  • Co-engineer data solutions for our prospects, from determining the right bespoke solution to address their needs to estimating cost and duration to identifying the expertise and skill sets needed to deliver superior results
  • Represent our suite of data services and capabilities which includes offerings around: Data Science, Strategy & Management, Data Monetization, AI/ML Acceleration, and Next-Gen KPI Activation. BONUS! You can draw from our existing methodologies, IP, and productized service offerings.
  • Help us continue to refine and shape our points of view by lending your insight into assets that support the sales journey — e.g. PPTs, SOWs, storyboards, and presentations that articulate our service’s vision, impact, and unique methodology
  • Enjoy first right to win — and deliver — the deals you help us close!
  • Participate in client discovery workshops, diving into their environments, teams, technologies, etc., to help us expedite the sales process
  • Excite and delight our potential customers on the power of data innovation and advanced analytics solutions

Who You Are:

Your background is likely the following:

  • You are a long-time Consultant looking for us to be your next big client
  • You are looking for your next data career adventure and are interested in joining us either fractionally or full-time
  • 8+ years in a data practitioner role, with expertise in data science, advanced analytics, and BI

Your experience and passion likely include:

  • Being an expert in the field of data science and advanced analytics. You don’t just lead teams. You’re also capable of being the hands-on practitioner.
  • Participating in pre-sales calls for either internal or external clients to understand how to apply data strategically and technically to solve a pain or drive towards an exciting opportunity
  • Successfully leading several projects in business intelligence, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced analytics
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical teams on data projects
  • Infusing data into business initiatives and outcomes
  • Strong experience and confidence in estimating the cost, level of effort, and duration for client projects. Ability to define business requirements.
  • Capable of providing a rough approximation of cost based on limited information – enough to move a sales opportunity forward to further discovery
  • Background in supporting software and application leaders a plus, but not required
